Let Us Help You Show Your Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Commitment to Your Employees!
Planning an entire calendar of corporate social responsibility events can be time consuming and challenging.
How can you, as a social responsibility leader, in November 2022, know what types of giving campaigns will resonate with your colleagues in August 2023?
How can you know what type of employee volunteer events will appeal to not only your team, but also, their family members and friends?
This year, you may want to consider allocating some of your budget to various employee resource groups (ERGs). These organizations — which have long been used to support employees, build the employer brands, assist in recruitment, and develop leaders — are now essential in helping you fulfill your diversity, equity, and inclusion goals.
By dividing some of your funds among these organizations in each of your markets, you can support a wide range of local nonprofits that these groups have, or want to create, relationships with.
This approach also gives the local ERG leads a chance to take ownership of planning, marketing, and hosting an impactful event that their local leadership teams can attend. They also have more control over their scheduling to host the right event at the right time or the ability to pool resources to create bigger events, if they'd like.
For example, instead of hosting an outdoor event on Earth Day in northern markets when it's likely to be cold or rainy, some ERGs may choose to host environmental events in June when they can partner with a parenting ERG to ensure that parents, their children, and all climate activists can volunteer together.
Teams can also plan events based on the unique issues that their regions face. For example, in the United States, teams may choose to tackle homelessness; however, in countries that have better social supports, this may not be the best way for a market to spend its resources. They could choose to support childhood education, seniors, or other cause areas.
