Bee-utiful Effort at Benevity!

What could be a better opportunity to do a social impact program than when you get hundreds of corporate social responsibility professionals together at a conference?  Oh, throw in some beautiful weather and a fabulous location at the Omni La Costa Resort in Carlsbad, CA.  This dream scenario occurred a couple of weeks ago in Southern California at Benevity’s Goodness Matters Conference.

Give To Get helped Benevity seamlessly integrate some impactful volunteering into their conference which allowed Benevity-ites and their numerous customers to network together while doing great work to support outdoor education and STEM programs at Boys & Girls Clubs of San Diego.  Proving that you don’t necessarily need dedicated time with a full conference agenda to accomplish great things for a great nonprofit, conference attendees stepped up to the challenge during their opening night reception and throughout the conference with multiple pop-up program during breaks and meals.

Volunteers came together in the opening reception and built 150 bee houses to support Mason Bees and urban pollination and assembled 300 wildflower seed packs.  Over the course of the final two conference days, volunteers took a few minutes to pack these seed packs into an additional 300 garden/STEM/pollinators kits for kids to use as part of their outdoor education curriculum.  Once they receive their kits, students will be able to paint the bee houses to make them more attractive to Mason Bees, spread wildflower seeds, learn about pollination and help grown their own fruits, flowers and vegetables in teaching gardens at the Boys & Girls Clubs.

We were thrilled to “bee” able to participate in the Goodness Matters conference as a partner, and help bring social impact to life in a unique way as part of their conference.  Bad puns aside, great work all around.
